BIOGRAPHY OF
JOHN MONROE
John Monroe came to the great state of Oklahoma in 1977. Born and raised in Michigan he learned to play guitar in the mid-fifty’s. He played a lot of the early Rock & Roll so prominent in that era. After being in Oklahoma for a few years, he played rhythm guitar for Western Heritage a country western band where he also sang lead and harmony. John has written several songs throughout his musical career. He was introduced to Bluegrass in 1984 by some dear friends, and that changed his direction in his musical career for good. Although, he still loves country music, his true love is bluegrass and bluegrass gospel. John has played in several bluegrass bands playing banjo and guitar in the last several years. John has been a long time friend of the “From The Heartland” group and has now become one of its latest members. John plays rhythm guitar, singing some of his music and other favorites. John adds to the unique sound of originality and pure entertainment that “From The Heartland” seeks to bring to all its audiences.
